Jane Eisen, MD is the Clinical Director of the Depression and Anxiety Division at McLean Hospital, overseeing the integration of clinical work and research in the division. Dr. Eisen’s research has focused on course and predictors of course in OCD as well as identifying meaningful OCD subtypes. Her work on the interface between OCD and psychosis and the role of insight in OCD, led to the development of the Brown Assessment of Beliefs Scale, an insight scale with established reliability and validity.
Her clinical expertise and clinical research experience in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder have shaped her educational work with psychiatry residents, and, more recently faculty. She served as Training Director of the Brown Psychiatry Residency Program from 2003 to 2015, where she instituted evidence-based psychiatry and research methodology curricula. She was co-Principal Investigator of a NIMH R-25 grant to develop and implement a research track in the residency for Brown residents, and served as the Program Director for Brown residents in the research track. In addition to her educational roles in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, she served as Associate Dean for faculty in Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Eisen has also established a role with the National Neuroscience Curriculum Initiative, (NNCI), an open access website developed by psychiatry educators and neuroscientists with resources designed to teach psychiatric trainees clinically relevant neuroscience. She successfully received funding through an NIMH R25 supplement mechanism to help fund the NNCI from 2014 to 2018 and served as Chair of the NNCI advisory committee. She now chairs the NNCI faculty development committee, composed of a number of training directors across the country, which is producing new NNCI resources designed to teach faculty clinically relevant neuroscience.
In July 2018, Dr. Eisen joined the faculty at McLean Hospital after serving as Training Director and Vice-Chair of Academic Affairs in the Brown Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and more recently as Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Mt. Sinai St. Lukes and Mt. Sinai West in New York City.
