A Message from the Program Director Team

June 3rd, 2020

The MGH/McLean Psychiatry Residency stands with our residents, fellows, colleagues, and communities in expressing anger and sadness at the recent deaths of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, George Floyd, and so many others. The ongoing violence towards Black people in America is only the most recent chapter in a long and shameful history of racial injustice in our country. There is much work to be done.

As members of the residency leadership, we commit to working every day to create a safe, inclusive, and equitable space for our trainees, colleagues, and patients. We commit to continuously educating ourselves and others to end this hate. We commit to advocating for the most disadvantaged, disenfranchised, and marginalized individuals in our community. We commit to pushing for changes at the local, state, and national level that will not only bring an end to bias, discrimination, and racism, but build an antiracist society. And we commit to supporting one another, each and every day, as we strive toward our shared fundamental values of equity and justice.
