MGH McLean
The MGH/McLean Adult Psychiatry Residency Training Program is committed to fostering a welcoming and supportive community where all individuals feel valued and have a sense of belonging.
The mission of the residency program is to cultivate a physician workforce committed to advancing health and wellbeing in our local communities and beyond. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where all residents feel connected, respected, and empowered to thrive. We are intentional about fostering a sense of belonging across all aspects of the program, from leadership and mentorship to clinical training, research, and education.
Each member of our program director team is personally committed to fostering a learning community and educational curriculum where all individuals feel respected, supported, and connected.
My passion for working with Local communities was deeply shaped by my residency experience in community psychiatry in Chelsea. I am committed to helping create a training environment where all residents feel a true sense of belonging and purpose. It is an honor to support the development of physician leaders who feel connected to their communities and empowered to make a meaningful impact.
As an educator, researcher and clinician, I am deeply committed to creating a residency experience where trainees feel welcomed, supported, and connected. I believe that a strong sense of belonging is essential not only to well-being, but also to professional growth. My goal is to foster a community where residents can thrive—personally and professionally—as they pursue outstanding clinical training in psychiatry and prepare to serve the communities that inspire them.
Our residency program is integrated with a vast array of department, hospital, and medical school resources that are dedicated to fostering a supportive community and professional growth. Through close collaboration and resident participation in these centers of excellence, we ensure best practices and provide rich learning opportunities.
“As we aim to develop a comprehensive understanding of all causes of psychiatric disorders—from biology to social determinants—and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected, both in our communities and worldwide, we recognize that our strength lies in bringing together individuals with a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds, and life experiences. It is therefore critical for our department to broaden the representation of our training programs, faculty, and the communities we serve around the world.” – Maurizio Fava, MD, Psychiatrist-in-Chief, MGH
